Who is Matt Cutts?
Matt Cutts joined Google as a software engineer and is currently the head of Google’s Webspam team.
Matt has his own blog and also releases useful videos on YouTube.com from time to time, which most people in the SEO community find extremely useful for obvious reasons. He is also frequently interviewed by people trying to get him to reveal more SEO secrets.
He works for the Search Quality group in Google, specializing in search engine optimization issues. He is well known in the SEO community for enforcing the Google Webmaster Guidelines and cracking down on link spam. Cutts also advises the public on how to get better website visibility in Google.
Before Google, he worked on his Ph.D. in computer graphics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Cutts has an M.S. from UNC-Chapel Hill, and B.S. degrees in both mathematics and computer science from the University of Kentucky.
He also wrote the first version of SafeSearch, which is Google’s family filter, and has worked on search quality and webspam at Google for the last several years.
He is regarded by many to be the friendly smiling face of Google and one of the best sources of information about how their search engine works.
